Fluid Eating's Review of Los Locos
Just a short distance from the craziness of Covent Garden Market you'll find the red exterior of Los Locos inviting you down to their intimate neon lit basement bar stroke restaurant stroke club.
Los Locos has been geared up for pretty much everyone and anything since 1986. If you're after some decent food with wine - they've got it; a beer or a cocktail - they have an impressive selection at very reasonable prices; a bit of a boogie - dj kicks off around 11pm; office & birthday drinks, hen & stag parties - all are catered for with ease and enjoyment.
Key to the ambience created at Los Locos, with a bit of inside knowledge, is the staff - majority of them have been at the venue for some time, we're talking years here - a rarity at most venues in London. Why? Quite simply they enjoy working there. And that is seen to rub off on the punters who go there. The staff are attentive and friendly, especially that Michael - Lo Loco indeed, though you'll have to catch him on a quietish night to get the full Loco.
The food is just right, gastro prices but huge portions that will leave you more than satisfied and at the bar ordering beers & cocktails. Recommended food has got to be the 'Loco Platter' for starters. £9 between two and there's a lot of food to get through - Crab fritters, Hot ‘n’ Spicy Chicken Wings, your choice of potato skins & all the accompanying dips. For mains the Fajitas were delicious - served on a sizzling skillet with the works. Around £14 for a choice of Steak, Chicken or Vegetarian. For great value the Jalisco Chicken is hard to beat at £9.95. Fresh chicken breast stuffed with Brie, jalapus, red kidney beans and scallions, wrapped in bacon, toppped with cilantro sauce and mixed salad.
To accompany the food they have a reasonable selection of wine: house wine is £13, but if you splash out a little bit extra you can get an excellent bottle of Californian Zinfandel for £18 - a smooth & juicy red perfect with meat. Otherwise there's loads of drink promotions every night and beer is £3.30.
They have a relaxed policy towards stag & hen parties, and hence Los Locos is a perfect venue to book a table before taking to the dance floor. On a Saturday evening there were two hen parties and three stag parties all enjoying the food and drinks before enjoying the cheesy disco playing all your old favourites - a party mix from 70's & 80's classics, R'n'B, chart hits and popular dance. “My wife and I recently paid a visit to Los Locos and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The service provided was warm and friendly. We were made to feel welcome. The atmosphere was lively as it was quite busy. Usually when we eat in town at this time, we're the only people in. The portions were generous, the menu wide and varied. I can't think of anything negative to say about the place. Very good value for money. Great location, just a short walk to the theatre. We'll visit again as you can't go wrong for the price and quality of the food. I don't mind leaving a large tip for the staff as the certainly earned it. Looks like they enjoy working at Los Locos. If I was 40 years younger, I might like to work there too! Ha ha.”

“I decided to book a table at Los Locos, through a friend’s recommendation, prior to our visit to a nearby theatre, hoping they’d offer value for money and quick service in case we were delayed upon arriving in the West End. As we were pushed for time, I made it known to our hostess and subsequently we were shown to our table with the minimum of fuss. We all chose 2 courses from the Al a Carte menu, each arriving in good time, ample in portions, thoroughly delicious and washed down with a delectable bottle of Montes Cabernet Sauvignon. The staff at Los Locos were attentive without being bothersome. It’s a lovely little restaurant and judging by the amount of diners there at such an early point in the evening, it would seem to be very popular with Londoners, which is always a good sign, I find. To sum it all up, the service, food and cost all rank very highly, it’s clean and tidy with the minimum amount of fuss. Excellent all round and keep up the good work! Mr & Mrs Blith-Lavey.”

“Loc locos is the place to be for a good nite, good friendly atmosphere, good crowd of people, and as for the good looking Dj with the lovely smile, he alone is enough to make me go again. All the staff are friendly and welcoming, from the lavatory assistant to the door men. Drink prices are fair, in general a good place to relax and unwind after a hard week at work.”
