Fluid Eating's Review of Proud Cabaret

Description: Modeled on a 1920s speakeasy, Proud Cabaret is an elegant new City destination which offers fine dining and entertainment in surroundings which exude the illicit glamour of a bygone era. Designed by Russell Sage Studios and Danielle Proud, the venue has a sophisticated, decadent feel.

From 12-9pm the kitchen serves superbly executed British cuisine, with space for 120 covers. There is also an informal bar menu serving lighter dishes. The extensive, sophisticated wine list is the perfect accompaniment, whilst the bartenders concoct both classic and contemporary cocktails. The delightful staff will serve up these dishes in the regalia of the era, with beautiful girls in flapper dresses. Proud Cabaret is all about being entertained while you dine. Evenings are hosted by famous promoters and guests can enjoy cabaret, jazz and burlesque as they eat in the style of a retro Hollywood supper club – with live bands and DJ sets continuing the party long into the evening.

Proud Cabaret is the latest addition to the Proud family and joins Proud Galleries and Proud Camden. It is available for private hire in part or entirely.

Situated in one of London's most historic quarters, Proud Cabaret is nestled amongst iconic landmarks such as the Gherkin and London Bridge, just 10 minutes walk away from Tower Bridge. Proud Cabaret is also easily accessible from Tower Hill underground station, Fenchurch Street railway station and Tower Gateway DLR station. (Updated 04/07/2010)

“A fun and naughty night had by all...i don't want to give too much away because it is everything you expected and more...I had a fabulous night here with food and cocktails and dancers...can't wait to return!” Rating: Rosie, london (22 Aug 2010)

“Had an unbelievable night out here. What a place! My friends and I had a blast. Everything from the service to the entertainment was brilliant. A really original night out.” Rating: Jones, London (19 Aug 2010)

“If you're looking for a night where the can-can kicks could take an eye out and the burlesque dancers skirts are hitched way above their draws, then this is your night. I must admit, I was skeptical before going, reluctantly being dragged downstairs to what seemed like a 1950s speak easy, but within minutes i was intoxicated by the music, all round vibrant energy of the place and exceptional menu. A must! You would be a fool to miss out...” Rating: [ Unknown ], London (05 Aug 2010)

“Proud Cabaret was lovely! Really enjoyed myself, it made my trip to london that much better, if ever i come back to london it shall be the first place i go.” Rating: [ Unknown ], Tisbury (04 Aug 2010)

“Such a fun place to go on a night out! I have been several times for both the food and entertainment and have enjoyed each experience. They have so many different acts that no matter how many times you go back it all feels so new and exciting. The food is lovely ( I really recommend the pavolova) and the entertainment is fantastic. Such a well thought out venue - great place!” Rating: [ Unknown ], London (03 Aug 2010)

“I loved my evening at Proud Cabaret. It is difficult to elaborate more than that, when one is presented with the rare conundrum of what was specifically the best part of an overall perfect evening? Was it the ambiance –which, modelled on a 1920’s speakeasy is elegant, sophisticated and full of comforting vintage charm? Was it the food, which came in a three course extravaganza of delicate seafood, flavoursome meat (although vegetarians were equally well catered for) and finished with a tantalising chocolate hazelnut dessert that left the mouth craving for more? Or was it the magical transformation from chilled jazz bar to true turn of the century retro glamour, when burlesque dancers entered and preformed to customers with class, energy and national standard skill? The answer is a combination of all of the above. In the heart of the bustling city Proud’s newest venture provides everything you could want from a night out.” Rating: [ Unknown ], London (28 Jul 2010)

“More tempting than ever with Wednesdays & Fridays 3 course dinner being HALF off!! Thursdays are a 3rd off as well. Woo hoo!” Rating: jadeeey, Australia (08 Jun 2010)
