b-bar Overview
This chilled out bar and restaurant just minutes from Victoria Station is a perfect after work retreat. I would have to say that B-Bar's best features, apart from its friendly staff, are it's extensive and delicious variety of cocktails (the list exceeds 30) which start from a reasonable £6, and the pure fact that the restaurant serves kangaroo! This is a really unique selling point and although I have never sampled it myself I have heard that it is very good. The decor is classic with a definite hint of the art-deco and jazz played subtly in the background while we sipped on a Pinchin Fizz and Vanilla Kiss, at 2 for 1 prices we were happy to test them out!
There are 2 bar menus, a lunchtime one and an evening one. The evening menu starts at 5pm and prices start from £3.25 for a bowl of nuts to £9.95 for burger and chips. We had a mix of dishes which worked out great for sharing and all priced at around the £5 mark. I particularly recommend the chicken satay skewers and the wantons.
B-Bar is not open at the weekends and i think this definitely marks it out as a popular 'after work' kind of venue. Though we did not sample the restaurant, the menu was extensive and they also offer a set menu of 3 courses for £16 which ranged from seabass, chicken and risotto.
A word of advice, if you do decide to sample all of the cocktails on offer and do not feel up to staggering home, B-bar is owned by the Rubens hotel, situated next door! (Updated 16/08/2006)
