An Invitation to Treat at Zebrano at The Establishment

An Invitation to Treat at Zebrano at The Establishment

The venue at 18 Greek Street has often been described as cutting edge; when Peter Cook owned ‘The Establishment’ club on this site in 1961 the comedy broke all rules and many taboos. Zebrano at the Establishment 2008 is also doing things a little bit different and pushing boundaries, especially on Wednesday evenings starting 9th July where food will be served with no price attached at all. Instead Zebrano at The Establishment invites the customers to ‘treat’ them for their efforts.

In this era of savvy restaurant diners and the credit crunch, Zebrano at the Establishment not only wants to look after their customers’ stomachs, but also their pockets. To demonstrate this they are to launch an ‘invitation to treat’ every Wednesday in the Zebrano at The Establishment restaurant. To ensure that all their diners feel they get great value for money, no prices will be on the menus, no calculated bills will be delivered to the table, just an empty tip tray with an invitation for the customer to treat Zebrano.

“We have always been keen to look after our customers and their pockets” says Chris Sheldon, operations manager, “and we have always had a sensible pricing policy, which is even more important in these leaner times. To put this into practice customers can eat our food and simply pay what they think it’s worth. If they think it’s worth £100 or £1 then that’s up to them. It is better for us that a customer leaves happy paying exactly what they think the dining experience is worth instead of possibly walking out the restaurant with disappointment.”

Zebrano at the Establishment will launch a new Tapas menu on the 9th July and with head chef Chico, the owners of the bar are confident that Londoners will absolutely love the food and therefore pay a fair price. “We have known for a long time that all that Londoners want is value for money” says Don Cameron, managing Director of Zebrano bars “no matter how much money you have in your pocket everyone wants a fair price. We trust our customers to pay a fair price and we are looking forward to the experiment. We decided not to extend this offer to drinks as we do not want to encourage any irresponsible drinking and besides, I would be worried about my fellow director’s taking advantage!”

Invitation to treat will launch Wednesday 9th July and will be available every Wednesday from 5pm. Customers will be given an itemised list of food they ordered with a blank space in place of the prices and total. The customers will fill in the total themselves and that will be the price charged. Bon appé-treat!
