Yatra meaning a "Spiritual Journey" or a "Sacred Journey" has now established itself for serving exquisite Indian/Asian food in elegant surroundings in the heart of Mayfair. With the arrival of their new head chef, Sam Seghal, a menu has been deivsed which will indeed take you on such a journey with a sensational mix of both traditional and contemporary cuisine. The wine list has been devised to complement and marry the blends of flavours that Chef Seghal has created.
Yatra has catered to a host of celebrities and with its outside catering division has provided catering for wedding receptions, birthday parties, Royal Ascot week etc etc. The most prestigious event has been for the Red Cross where HRH Queen Elizabeth was the guest of honour.
In January of 2005 Yatra carried out a minor refurbishment and reopened its doors with a new look. Gone is the low eastern style of seating where one used to sit on the floor. The decor based around the Yatra Lounge in Manchester (shortlisted for the venue design award of the year) has witnessed a similar enthusiasm from its established clientele. The decor which is minimalist and with the clever lighting offers a comfortable surrounding for guests to indulge in their extensive cocktail list, wine collection and bar menu where East meets West. On Fridays and Saturdays entertainment is provided by their resident DJ who plays a mix of chilled lounge music.
With an overall capacity of accommodating up to 220 guests, Yatra is able to cater for every mood; from a formal sit down for 135 guests to a buffet style or cocktails with canapés for 220. The layout of the restaurant is such that for private functions Yatra is able to provide dancing with award winning DJs especially recruited for Yatra.
Yatra has now introduced the Busy Businessman's Buffet which has been designed for those who are in a hurry. Yatra also provide wireless broadband to enable those who wish to carry on with their business over a working lunch. (Updated 21/06/2008)
