Some like it hot as the World's Hottest Pizza erupts at Bella Italia
A new pizza so hot and spicy it comes with an endless supply of milk will be unveiled by Italian restaurant Bella Italia this June.
The chain is hoping to make it into the record books with the UK’s hottest ever pizza, the “Pizza Calabria”, which is topped with scorching hot njuda sausage from the southern Italian region of Calabria.
The locally produced sausage is made with hot chilli peppers and is left to mature for the ultimate fiery kick. The pizza also comes loaded with roasted red peppers, red onions and cheese.
For those brave enough, an extra hot version, the “Pizza Calabria Volcanica”, is available which comes with green chilli peppers and extra spicy arrabiatta sauce.
To encourage people to put their taste buds to the test, complimentary glasses of milk will be served with the pizza. Bella Italia is submitting the recipe to the Guinness World Records for verification as the world’s hottest pizza Vittorio Lettieri, Bella's Italian Development Chef and mastermind behind the spice explosion, said those who like it hot should forget their local curry house and head to Bella Italia: “It’s not for the fainthearted but those who think they can beat the burn won’t be disappointed with the Calabria Volcanica. Side effects can include a numb tongue and watering eyes but it tastes great and beats a vindaloo any day.
