Wahaca's Cactus Hunt
Wahaca's owners Mark Selby and Thomasina Miers currently have cactus on their menu and on their minds. They're offering a reward to the first person to supply them with the details of an European prickly pear grower.
On Tuesday night at the London Restaurants Awards 2008 nominees announcement, Wahaca was the only Mexican restaurant in London that the panel of judges considered worthy of The Evening Standard Award '60 under £60'. In their words, the shortlist is comprised of restaurants showing "a real commitment to value for money without compromising quality". With no dish on Wahaca's menu costing more than £10, we concur. The winner will be announced on 1 September 2008. Fingers crossed.
