The Wolseley Overview
The Wolseley is a Cafe & Restaurant in the grand European tradition located in St James' on London's most famous boulevards, Piccadilly.
The Grade II listed 1921 building is the work of William Curtis Green, the architect of The Dorchester Hotel, and was commissioned by Wolseley Cars as their London showroom. The magnificent interiors and particularly the original Japanese lacquer screens and friezes were adorned and added to by Barclays bank when they acquired the premises in 1929. The site was acquired by Chris Corbin and Jeremy king in July 2003 and its restoration and renovation has been overseen by David Collins Architects.
The Wolseley has several menus in the Grand Cafe tradition including Breakfast, Morning Pastries, Afternoon Tea, and an all day menu with sandwiches, salads, crustacea and plats du jour.
The A la Carte menu is served at Lunch and Dinner being very much in the brasserie tradition offering a broad range of European dishes. Their Wine List is drawn exclusively from Europe. (Updated 01/09/2005)
