The Forge Overview
The Forge is an 80-cover modern European restaurant and bar situated in the heart of Covent Garden, London. It is the third restaurant from Robert Seigler who also owns Le Café du Jardin and Le Deuxieme – both local Covent Garden staples.
The Forge's Head Chef Andy Barber (Tate Britain, The Bleeding Heart) has put together a comprehensive menu full of classics as well as a large selection of fish and shellfish dishes. Starters range from Half a dozen Colchester oysters, devilled lambs kidneys on toasted sourdough; Snails, red wine jus, parsley sauce to Beetroot cured Loch Duart salmon with goats cheese fondant. Mains include Baked wild halibut with Puy lentils and jus gras, Whole Dover sole grilled or Meuniere with new potatoes, Leg of lamb ‘7 hours’, pomme fondant and rosemary and Veal Holstein with a fried quail’s egg. A 500 strong wine list with a number of wines available by the glass complements the food on offer.
The restaurant has private dining for 20. The basement bar, with a capacity for 60 people, has a strong wine list with many available by the glass. During the summer months, The Forge will have alfresco seating for 20. (Updated 30/11/2008)
