The Cross Kings Overview
The Cross Kings is on York Way in the old location of The Backpackers hostel – infamous for being an Aussie home from home in London it has been given an entirely new life and turned into a fantastic venue, with food, live music, comedy and art. It’s set to grow into a cultural hot spot in the heart of the Kings Cross redevelopment.
The Cross Kings is a European Cafe by day, serving healthy, locally sourced food (especially good stuff for vegetarians and vegans) and then a venue for all tastes in the evenings.
Real food at The Cross Kings means slow cooked from fresh ingredients each morning in the style of the best of European peasant dishes like goulash, coq au vin, apple strudel and even hot roast pork sandwiches. Real ale, good value stunning wines, interesting modern music or just a cup of Illy coffee is all served in a glorious old London building.
Just a guitar chord from King's Cross Station near the Regents Canal - by clubs like Canvas, Cross, Egg and Scala and eventually where the Guardian Media building will be (2008) and the London School for Arts (2010) is being developed by Argent as part of the biggest regeneration scheme in Europe.
Open early, closing late (the night bus stops outside, plus lots of taxis). It is an exciting part of town; both the main bar, dining room and also the cellar are open until 2am at weekends. (Updated 30/01/2007)
