The Commander Overview
Situated in the heart of affluent Westbourne Grove – The Commander is a gastro pub with a great deal to offer. Spacious and filled with comfy sofas this is an ideal place for large groups – what was particularly evident as I sampled their extensive food menu was the number of birthday parties situated in nearly every available corner.
I have it on good authority that this place is popular among the locals for party bookings. Although it does not have a late license or a dj it is a great place to come for a hearty meal – the portions are huge and there really is something for everyone – (including a variety of fish dishes) – and like all popular London pubs it has outside seating. I recommend the monkfish with risotto – at £11.50 it was definitely worth it as my portion was huge.
The Commander has clearly embraced large groups with open arms as the menu also offers a variety of large platters for sharing at around the £9 mark and various bar snacks for £7.
With its neutral décor, leather sofas and welcoming staff – this candle lit gastro pub is the perfect place to enjoy good food in relaxed, unpretentious surroundings - and an even better place for celebrating as Tara (manager) and Tom (assistant manager) love accommodating huge groups.
