Sumosan & J Bar Overview
Sumosan launched into the western hemisphere in 2002. Combinations such as Sumosan Tartar (rich tuna with creamy shards of avocado topped with Sevruga caviar and quail’s egg) are joined by divine partnerings such as salmon sashimi with strawberry jus and tuna sushi with truffle oil. Yet perfect renditions of modern Japanese classics such as the immortal Black Cod still remain a heavenly consternation. Since its opening in Moscow and Mayfair, Sumosan has attracted a host of unearthly figures from the film, pop and sports worlds. It is one of London’s top ten restaurants (Harden’s & Remy). Located below Sumosan's restaurant, the Jbar is one of the capital's most formidable private members club & a welcomed addition to the Mayfair bar scene.
The Jbar combines sleek minimalist design with a palette of natural
materials such as oak & macassa woods. Polished concrete walls & a slate bar, softened by an abundance of comfy cushions create a warm & welcoming atmosphere. The colour schemes are beige, caramel, deep chocolate brown & royal purples.
The Jbar serves cocktails, such as their award - winning Sumosan Punch, created by cocktail maestro Dick Bradsell. A bar menu featuring Japanese tapas, Sashimi & Sushi are available along side their full a la carte menu. Their resident DJ plays most nights from 9pm. (Updated 16/03/2006)
