Solo Overview

Solo on Inverness Street, NW1, formerly known as Bar Solo, is undergoing an evolution, designed to splash a lick of gloss to Camden's more grungy reputation. With a culture of supper clubs growing among London's discerning night-owls, the chic revamp, follows the latest enhancements to the area. A popular haunt for years, it still hasn't lost its soul.

Once an infamous underground haunt, it now injects a more New York style late night scene, to one of Britain's most celebrated music epicentres, and has recently attracted Samuel L Jackson and Michelle Pfeiffer.

The upstairs restaurant serves Mediterranean influenced food from 8am until late, assuring late-night appetites are catered for, while other nearby venues may have closed for the night. All dishes are created by Consultant Chef Andrew McIntosh (Afro Caribbean chef of year 2001 and most recently Senior Chef at Chez Gerard and before that L’escargot). Lunchtime and evening dishes include Trio of Oysters (Natural, Kilpatrick and Florentine), Baked Rump of Lamb with ratatouille and prune sauce and Broad Bean and Sorrel Risotto. You can tuck into an array of breakfasts, lunch and late-night supper menus, so visitors are kept well-fed throughout the day, with an average two courses and half a bottle of wine coming in at £25 per head.

Whilst Under Solo basement cocktail lounge/jazz and soul bar, opens at 5pm every day and serves up cocktails, grazing food and a respected eclectic music selection including jazz, soul and funk. Plus an exciting schedule of live acts and events with musicians such as Amy Winehouse, Graham Coxon and pianist Cliff Slapper. Under Solo exudes the feel of a private bar, but without the subscription charges or pretension. The demure ambience imbibes late-night revelers with a seemingly endless flow of cocktails, devised by Manager Steve Wilmot. You'll find variations on the classics such as the Passion Fruit Cosmopolitan and Moroccan Caprihinia, plus house specials such as Tequila Mockingbird and Thailander.

The bar's boutique-style design comprises candlelit booths around a compact stage, establishing an intimate surrounding, and paving to introduction of a thrill-packed bill of cabaret, with late night events, including a much-anticipated night of Karaoke Unplugged, where guests sing with real musicians from well known bands, setting a new trend in late-night entertainment.
