Rex Cinema & Bar Overview
The Rex Cinema & Bar, located in Rupert Street, Soho is an intimate venue featuring a state-of-the-art 75-seat cinema, together with a 1930s style lounge bar open until 3am.
It takes its name from the historical UK cinema group The Rex, which began in the early 1900s and Beth Earl and Libby Avigdori are responsible for the concept and interior design. The Rex can best be described as eclectic, drawing heavily from 1930s style with art nouveau influences. Plush velvets and crystal chandeliers create a decadent atmosphere while exposed brickwork gives off a raw contemporary vibe.
The cinema screens old classics as well as advance previews of soon-to-be-released blockbuster movies. All films are complimentary for members and they can bring up to three guests with them on each visit.
The bar is open on Tuesday to Friday from 6pm until late and from 8pm until 3am on Saturday and offers waitress service at the tables and in the cinema. An extensive range of classic cocktails and drinks are available, together with a full champagne and wine list. Delicious bar food is also available including gourmet burgers and stone baked pizza. The total capacity is 190 people.
Music is played throughout the evening, with London’s best DJs playing from 10pm onwards every Friday and Saturday and a small stage is also set up for live music on selected nights. (Updated 22/02/2008)
