Sliced bread, your reign is over, The People’s Republic is now the new best thing.
But forget the impressively artistic décor of this castle. Disregard the flamboyant nature of its experienced, show-boating barstaff. Overlook such home-styled specialities as the Strawberry Fields mojito-adaptation with its punch of fresh chillis. Make no note of the eclectic musical talents thumping to the beat of your yearning heart. And ignore the alluringly delicious menu which even includes breakfast with optional hangover cocktails. The real reason to acknowledge this independent people’s dominion as leader of the free world is its democratic approach to sovereignty. Whatever you want in the bar, be it food, drink or music, the ‘ballot box’ at the venue (or online) is your chance to make a change. You will even win a prize if your ‘nomination’ gets elected.
The commander of this ‘rational’ front is a fella by the name of Jayke ‘The Snake’, an Australian version of Hard-Fi’s lead singer Richard Archer, except Jayke can handle his booze. The comparison doesn’t end there because whilst Hard-Fi sing about ‘Feltham Singing Out’, Jayke similarly proves that Clapham is also singing out. And what is it singing out, Jayke? “Freeeedommm!”
So friendly, so cordial, so convivial, it brings new and proper meaning to the word ‘socialism’.
