Fluid Eating's Review of Park Terrace Restaurant & Bar at the Royal Garden
The Park Terrace Restaurant is located at lobby level, adjacent to Kensington Palace Gardens and Hyde Park. Open from 6.30am to 10.30pm daily, this is the beating heart of the hotel, catering to all tastes at all times of the day. Menus are overseen by Executive Chef, Steve Munkley.
The Park Terrace Restaurant breakfast offers the full gamut from a classic Full English to American waffles to Chinese congee. There is a buffet for selection of cold items and a wide selection of high quality English leaf teas.
At lunch and dinner, the restaurant buzzes with locals dropping in for a quick bite, and business people for a longer sojourn. Hotel guests are always welcome, and single diners made to feel comfortable. The ambience is easy-going, friendly and unpretentious.
Choose from either the All Day Dining Menu, which features international staples perfectly produced (pastas, salads, burgers, grills, an onion soup or cheesecake) or the British Specialty Menu.
This is Steve Munkley's tour de force - a briliant showpiece for the best national produce, from English asparagus in early summer to New Season lamb at Easter. Superlative sources include a scallop-diver in Weymouth, and a wild mushroom-picker in the New Forest. Beef comes from the Buccleuch Estate in Scotland.
Classics include a delectable steak and kidney pudding, Steve always bringing a light and fresh approach to old-fashioned English recipes. (Updated 10/01/2006)
