Ode to the Monkey
More info on Paramount members' club in central London.
The cheek chaps behind Monkey Shoulder whisky put together the ultimate Burns Night shindig at Paramount on January 25th, perfectly positioned on the 31st floor of Centre Point in Soho. Guests enjoyed a night of bagpipes, DJs, haggis, whisky cocktails, and a panoramic 360-degree view of London from 385 feet up.
Canapés replaced the purist’s supper and included mouth-watering Haggis H'orderves followed by the posh man's deep-fried Mars Bar - Monkey Mars Tempura. Delectable cocktails - inspired by Rabbie himself and lovingly created by mixologist Jamie Forbes – substituted traditional drams of whisky. Guests were treated to The John Barleycorns, The Bobbie Burns as well as the sweet Pink Scotch Drink which included cream and fresh raspberries and was served with shortbread. It’s safe to say the January diet flew out the 31st floor window.
Entertainment was provided by top Edinburgh DJ Tokyoblu and the outstanding modern piping band The Red Hot Chilli Pipers who have played at private gigs for Ewan McGregor as well as on stage at T in the Park.
Guests sat back in the amber-lit den, took in the dazzling view and warmed their tootsies on the (LCD) fireplace. This evening proved to be the perfect antidote for the January Blues. Wee Rabbie himself would have wanted nothing less.
