Match Bar (West End) Overview
A selection of cool leather seating on Margaret Street and the retro neon bar sign is the only give-away that Match exists as you walk up Regent street with the throngs of tourists and West End workers. However Match is a bit of a tardis. Holding within its nooks and crannies, over 300 people at busy times.
It makes good use of its long space with a mezzanine level alongside the main stretch of seating which leads on to the heart of the building – the bar itself. At around 10 meters long this is a serious bar for serious cocktails, although gladly, you’ll find the bar tenders very friendly – you don’t have to be arrogant or miserable to mix a seriously good drink. Opposite the bar is the DJ booth, used from Thursday to Saturday to provide your musical backdrop and up the atmosphere. Make it just past the bar and behind the velvet curtains and you’ll find a hidden gem of a room in the private lounge. Available for everyone to use when not hired for parties and events.
There is a new food menu which is served all through the day and night and provides a mix of hearty dishes and lighter tapas style plates using fresh seasonal ingredients sourced from quality suppliers.
It is the drinks that Match is famous for however, with an extensive list full of Match original creations, plus many old and new classics. Old and new drinks show the hand of cocktail-meister Dale DeGroff AKA The King of Cocktails, Match Bar Group’s Director of Drinks since the inception in 1997, who has a whole page of his own creations in the extensive cocktail menu.
Match Bar takes bookings 7 days a week for 2 to 300 people free of charge, and is now taking bookings for Christmas 2007. Waitress service is offered throughout as standard.
