If you’re looking for a chic and sophisticated atmosphere minus the pretentious attitude, then Luna Restaurant and Bar is an ideal alternative. Located in the heart of Fulham, the alluring interior oozes modern style and grace whilst simultaneously creating a relaxed and comforting environment for its younger clientele. The lighting is perhaps one of the more fetching aspects of the bar - a soft, purple glow rests fittingly on the neutral décor throughout, creating a seductive setting.
Drinks are reasonably priced, with a fairly extensive selection of wines and spirits. A pint of lager will cost you around £2.90, while a bottle of wine will set you back, on average, around £15. If you’re more of a cocktails and shooters kind of person, be prepared to fork out a little more money. (cocktails - £5.45, shooters - £3.45)
Hungry? If the selection of sandwiches and snacks on the bar menu doesn’t quite meet your cravings, just wander downstairs to the sleek and spacious restaurant part of Luna where you will be spoilt for choice by the sizable Italian menu.
The open-plan kitchen exudes a certain confidence which is clearly justified through their palatable dishes. The Mediterranean King Prawns were remarkably fresh, while the warm goats cheese with balsamic reduction is simply mouthwatering. As for pasta, the Rotelle alla puttanesca may look a little unassuming, but offers a bold reward to the taste buds. And, if you’re lucky, you might even get a little historical background on the dish, courtesy of the chef. Vegetarians are not left out either, with an above average selection of dishes. You’ll be looking at spending around £20 for a 2-course meal, but the attentive and friendly staff make it worth your while.
After you’ve filled your belly, you can go and burn off some of those calories by heading upstairs for a bit of a boogie where Luna bustles with young socialites until the early hours with a good mix of chart dance and R n’B music that’s sure to keep you on your feet. (Updated 27/06/2007)
