Launceston Place Overview
Situated in a leafy backwater in Kensington, Launceston Place opened its doors in March 1986 and is decorated with Victorian oil paintings and prints, large ornate mirrors, carpets, comfortable chairs, the odd antiquity and lots of flowers.
Launceston Place adheres to the same aim and principles it established when first starting out: the customer should enjoy delicious food, good efficient, if understated, service in calm, attractive and comfortable surroundings.
The menu reflects a 'getting back to basics with added flair' feel. Attention is paid to using the best produce from around the British Isles and making use of the seasons. Philip Reed, chef of eight years standing while keen to retain the British flavour of the menu is never afraid to seek inspiration from Europe and Asia. The wine list while essentially French reflects some inventive and thoughtful forays into the New World.
