Fifty Overview
This magnificent, landmark venue with its colourful history and rich heritage has always endeavoured to take gaming and entertainment to a new level. First opened in 1827 by a flamboyant entrepreneur of the day, the casino at 50 St James Street was designed by the fashionable architect Benjamin Wyatt, and quickly became known as "the Ascot of gambling" or "the most talked about gambling hall in the most talked about street in the most talked about city in the world."
At Fifty, they offer not just a spectacular gaming room and excellent private gambling facilities, but also five floors of sophisticated, upscale bars & restaurants, and a club lounge - Fifty Below where the ambience and décor will complement gamblers and non-gamblers alike.
Created for their elite members the Club Lounge, Fifty Below, in the basement of the property is a clean, timeless space designed to be effortlessly conducive to late-night relaxing in elegance and style.
Cocktail waitresses are on hand to provide table service while a DJ provides subtle, aural stimulation. The club was designed by Jeffrey Beers and is operated by Marc Merran the talented, trendsetting social engineer behind such London clubs as Aura and Chinawhite.
The seating, which is formally arranged alongside an illuminated, glass catwalk, is the central energy of the lounge while richly patterned, coloured glass panels create intimate enclosures around each seating area. Sparkling jewel chandeliers enclosed in glass, flank the run-way adding an element of glamour. Cocktail tables with integrated video screens display artful images and at times enable the more flirtatious patrons to playfully sneak a peek at other guests in the lounge.
Drama, scale, service and style - Salvatore's Bar on the right hand side of the lobby is sure to become one of the capital?s most alluring "destination" cocktail bars. The 25 feet long bar is situated in an improved, open-plan space and decorated in provocative, "grand minimalist" style to the tastes of young and old customers alike. With legendary barman Salvatore Calabrese come his recruits, some of London?s best and most creative "mixologists", a menu of cocktails, combining beloved classics and exciting new creations will provide nectareous treats for the most discerning of palates.
