Chowki Overview
Chowki is the new home-style Indian restaurant pioneered by Chef Kuldeep Singh.
Designed to make you feel as much 'at home' as possible, it is a modern version of the sociable and congenial homely atmosphere that represents the famous Indian hospitality, where a guest is the equivalent of God himself.
Inspired by women in Indian homes who strive to produce best-value-for-money meals for their families, Kuldeep has priced Indian Home-Style even lower than his Country-Style cuisine, thus breaking his own value.
With this philosophy in mind. A starter costs as little as £1.95, a main course plus accompaniments only £5.95 and a complete meal including a starter, main course plus the full range of accompaniments plus a dessert costs even less than a tenner.
Every one of Chowki’s team of cooks was born and bred in a traditional Indian home and had already acquired the rudimentary home-cooking skills while still 'knee high to his mother'. Such cooks are scarce, especially in the gourmet capitals of the world. Kuldeep Singh himself had to embark on several headhunting expeditions to India before he was able to assemble his own home-grown team. (Updated 28/07/2006)
