Cargo Overview
Cargo has managed to make quite a name for itself in recent times as a good bar, a fun night out and an excellent music venue. Known for it's live music and jumpin' DJ nights, the 'underground' style bar is always fairly crowded.
Cargo houses an urban decor of bare bricks, stripped down walls, railway arches and minimalistic interiors. There is an area to chill out and lounge about in, as well as a mini-diner area selling 'street foods' and bar snacks. The food is good, reasonably priced and there is quite a variation, including a veggie section. The music varies from night to night, but you can be sure that it will be of high quality and may even be showing the stars of the future. Whether it's hip bands, or well known DJ's, the music styles alter from hip-hop and funky house, to experimental music and latin jazz.
The clientele is fairly mixed, but all seem to be fairly unpretentious and up for a good night out, as are the friendly staff. Placed under the Kingsland viaduct, it is no surprise the theme that Cargo has undertaken. Just along from the Bedroom Bar, the Comedy cafe and the rest of Hoxton's bars, Cargo is a place you must try at least once. Some people take a disliking to Cargo because it seems quite dark and dingy, and some are put off by the odd 'freak' roaming around. However, whether you chill by the bar or head into the crowded dance floor section, you'll probably end up coming back for more whether it's your cup of tea or not. Most nights a small entrance fee is charged, but then again, most nights it's worth it!
