Best New Restaurant in South East London

Locale, a neighbourhood Italian restaurant in East Dulwich, London has won Best New Restaurant in the 'Living South Magazine Restaurant Awards' (Archant Publications).

Locales winning combination of excellent Italian cuisine, intimate, comfortable atmosphere, friendly service as well as value for money has meant that their restaurants have become a firm favourite with diners in their existing restaurants in Blackheath, County Hall and Fulham..

Commenting about their award Proprietor Douglas Smillie said "We are delighted all the hard work has paid off. We have endeavoured to produce a great menu of authentic fresh Italian home cooking and the local community has responded well, we are very busy."

Designed by well known architect Paul Daly, Locale delivers an individual style and flair on the East Dulwich Road. The premises accommodates 75 diners as well as a cocktail bar which will holds 40 guests for both drinks and light snacks, and during the spring and summer months, can enjoy lunch and dinner 'Alfresco' on the restaurant's front terrace.

Locale Restaurants are owned by Mark Evans, Mark Elphicke and Douglas Smillie, each with extensive experience in the restaurant industry. With four successful locations already, they are all searching for more sites to expand their Italian bar and restaurant concept.
