Barcelona Tapas Bar (Lime St) Overview
The fifth venue in the Barcelona group founded by father and son team, Martin and David Dalmau. The group's tag line is 'the authentic taste of Spain in London' - which happily seems to be the case. This City venture is a brightly-painted basement restaurant on Lime Street near Leadenhall Market and Lloyds of London. Flamboyant Orange walls edged in colourful, swirling mosaic tile work and also featuring the trademark Guadi-esque lizard. Feast on an aromatic wealth of mouthwatering tapas - tender beef meat balls, Mediterranean prawns, deep-fried baby squid (chiprones), paella, patatas bravas - they're all on the menu. Plenty of vegetarian dishes. Excellent home made crema Catalana, and a fantastic selection of Spanish wines listed by denominación de origen. Real Spanish vibe. Children are welcome and are provided with highchairs if needed. LARGE GROUPS AND SOLE PRIVATE HIRE Barcelona V's ground level combination of bar and traditional table and chair seating accommodates up to 90 people, but can fit 150 standing. Up to 20 can sit together around one table. What to serve your guests? Choose from a la carte, set, canapés, buffet and drinks only menus. They're all delish. Traditional drinks such as sangria and cava are popular choices from an enticing drinks list, including £5 cocktails and Catalan brandies. Strong wine list, too - house wine from £10.95. Many of the wines are exclusive to them. If you hire the place exclusively, you can bring your own entertainment. Popular, vibrant place suitable for business and pleasure. (Updated 01/01/2007)
