Anexo at Turnmills Overview
Anexo lies a couple of doors away from the Turnmills club and as you enter you pass down through a corridor decorated with what looks like dark green vines overhead.
Upon entering the Anexo bar area you will find a tiled floor, some naked brick walls visible and coloured glass windows, offering a Mediterranean atmosphere in the centre of Clerkenwell. Especially worth a visit in the summer when the full length windows are opened up onto the street.
A theme of lizards and vines runs throughout the Anexo, the banisters on the upper level are vine shaped and even bear some grapes. The bar offers a range of bottles from lagers to Alco-pops, draft Stella and a variety of cocktails. The bar staff are experienced and are often happy to make request drinks during quieter periods.
Anexo would be used to its best advantage to begin an evening when you plan to end up downstairs on the dance floor. This bar provides a range of music nights using both Djs and live bands. Drinks promotions during their happy hour from 5pm to 7pm Monday to Thursday make this bar a little more affordable than the club. Anexo food comprises a mixture of Spanish, Mediterranean and Mexican dishes. Sample dishes include Spicy Chicken Flautas served on a bed of lettuce, topped with Feta Cheese and Salsa (£5.25) and Fried Red Snapper with King Prawns and Mussels with a Mojo Rojo sauce (£0.50).
Anexo has lots of seating and large tables for groups of people making this bar a comfortable and inviting place. The Gallery area upstairs has to be the best feature, and this can be hired for private parties.
