Andaman Overview
Outstanding gastronomy has always been a fundamental component of the Althoff collection and diners at St James’s Hotel and Club will certainly be impressed and will be able to enjoy the talents of one of the world’s great chefs. Andaman opened at the beginning of September 2008.
Dieter Müller was first awarded three Michelin stars in 1997 for his work at Althoff’s Schlosshotel Lerbach in Bergisch-Gladbach and has retained this rare honour ever since. Müller’s extraordinary talents make him the ideal figure to oversee the launch of Althoff’s first London venture. Müller has created unique dishes for his restaurant at St James’s Hotel and Club, inspired by the spice routes followed by Marco Polo.
Andaman seats 60 guests and there is also a chef’s table for up to eight, where a menu can be created to guests’ specifications. Formal dining is only one part of the offering. In addition to the restaurant, which seats 20 in the traditional fashion, guests can sit comfortably in the lounge and bar throughout the day and enjoy an exceptional range of food and drink. The day-time mood is relaxed; this is the ideal meeting place for a working lunch over a club sandwich or an early evening drink with a colleague or friend. Then, as the sun goes down, the atmosphere shifts to one of evening glamour; the bar and lounge area become the perfect spot to enjoy a stylish cocktail or sample a selection from Müller’s tasting menu.
The hotel also offers a full breakfast and an afternoon tea, which, in the style of a true gentleman’s club, will be served with whisky! (Updated 03/09/2008)
