Fluid Eating's Review of Amalfi

In the heart of London's Theatreland, this intimate Italian restaurant offers authentic regional cuisine and superb hospitality. Full of character, Amalfi features a warm downstairs dining area with cosy cellar caves.

For nearly 4 decades, Amalfi - Old Compton Street has been a popular local Italian trattoria. There is a good selection of Italian wine and beer, while the dessert menu features classic Italian favourites like tiramisu, pannacotta and lemon tart.

The delicious menu has tasty dishes like seafood spaghetti with sautéed tiger prawns and mussels in a white wine, garlic and chilli sauce or fiorentina pizza with wilted spinach, egg and mozzarella. Amalfi restaurant has a good range of risotto, pizza and pasta, along with tasty main courses like chicken breast in a king prawn, garlic and cream sauce or spinach and ricotta cannelloni.

On Old Compton Street, Amalfi is a fine Italian restaurant in Soho, serving authentic Italian cuisine in a sophisticated setting. (Updated 06/11/2010)

“Poor value for money - food not great. Two meagre sea food risottos, starter size and two bears £40!” Rating: [ Unknown ], Oxfordshire (08 May 2009)

“I can't say we had a bad time - we had a great works night in the basement but what I will say, the lady who takes bookings is a nasty rude woman. In plenty of time I changed my booking from 10 to 20 people and she tried her hardest not to accommodate this and then when we arrived at 9pm instead of 8.45pm she told me off like a child. And there was not one other person in our area!! The rest of the staff were helpful and cheerful. The food was fine and the bill reasonable but, that girl, needs a new career I think.” Rating: a newton, london (25 Apr 2008)
