Alisan Overview

The national stadium may still yet to be finished, but there is now another reason to visit Wembley. If Chinese food tickles your fancy, then there are plenty of Chinese food takeaways to choose from around the capital. However, if it is gourmet, mouth watering food, expertly cooked by one of Hong Kong’s specialist dim sum chefs you’re after, then Alisan is the place for you.

Having opened in October of this year, the Alisan has everything you need for a great night out. Friendly, helpful service – the waiter was more than happy to advise me on his preferred dishes – and the food is honestly some of the best oriental produce I have ever tasted. There is also a large selection of wine. Sadly I only had time to try one, but I can highly recommend the Muscadet at a reasonable £12.49 a bottle.

Found in Wembley Retail Park, a literal stones throw away from Wembley Stadium, the restaurant itself is spacious, with tables for 2 to 8 people. There’s even a side room that can cater for any private functions (call in advance to book this).

As mentioned, Alisan boasts one of Hong Kong’s most respected dim sum chefs, so it only seemed right to start with a platter of his specialist dish. Accompanied with some crispy duck rolls in pancakes, the starters were so good I could have left then and been satisfied. The Alisan actually provides a complete dim sum lunch menu, which is well priced and perfect for that 45 minute escape from the office.

Onto the main course, and out came the biggest king prawns I have seen. Cooked in chilli and ginger (£12.00), I bravely tackled these beasts and was rewarded with a dish cooked to absolute perfection. The fillet steak cooked in Cantonese style also came with rave reviews (£9.50).

Having just about enough room left for pudding, decisions once again needed to be made when presented with the vast selection of deserts available. Settling on the chilled mango pudding (£3.50), I was glad I found the room.

I cannot recommend the Alisan highly enough. The service was excellent, and the food was simply superb. With the new Wembley Stadium supposedly being able to seat 90,000 people, the Alisan could soon build up a reputation for being the essential pre or post match dining spot.
